What is periodontology?
Periodontology is a specialized branch of dental medicine that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting the supporting structures of the teeth – gums, periodontal ligament, cementum and alveolar bone. The main goal of periodontics is to maintain the health of these structures, prevent tooth loss, and promote overall oral health.
At our dental clinic, we offer a wide range of periodontal services to help our patients maintain a healthy smile and improve the quality of their oral health. These services include:
- Diagnostic Services: We perform a thorough examination of the gums and other supporting structures of the teeth, including measuring the depth of periodontal pockets and taking x-rays to determine the extent of periodontal disease.
- Preventive care: the key to preventing periodontal disease is regular professional teeth cleaning, tartar and plaque removal, and educating patients about good oral hygiene.
- Non-surgical treatment methods: these include deep cleaning, known as scaling and root planing, which removes bacterial plaque and tartar from periodontal pockets and smooths the roots of the teeth, promoting better adhesion of the gums to the teeth.
- Surgical treatments: In the case of advanced periodontal disease, surgical intervention may be necessary to restore gum health, which may include procedures to correct periodontal pockets, regenerate lost bone and tissue, or cosmetic gum treatments.
- Treatment of periodontal abscesses and acute infections: We offer fast and effective treatment for these conditions to prevent further damage and the spread of infection.
